Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64 Version)
Enjoy Playing Super Mario 64 (Nintendo 64 Version)
Nintendo released Super Mario 64 in 1996 for the Nintendo 64. Princess Peach invites Mario to her castle but Bowser steals the Power Stars. Bowser seals doors that block progress and Mario collects Power Stars to open them. The castle acts as a hub filled with secret rooms and hidden passages. Each course offers missions that range from races to puzzles and boss fights. You collect up to 120 Stars across the castle and its paintings. Three key battles against Bowser break up the hunt and gate new areas.
Mario moves with an analog stick that allows gentle walks and sharp turns. He can triple jump, long jump, wall kick, dive, and ground pound. These moves let you chain routes through slopes, ledges, and moving platforms. You guide the camera with yellow buttons while Lakitu frames the action. Cap switches unlock temporary powers such as the Wing Cap for flight, the Metal Cap for weight and safety in hazards, and the Vanish Cap to slip through certain walls. Races with Koopa the Quick, penguin slides, and diving through rings change the rhythm of play.
Stages often remix goals within the same space. Tick Tock Clock changes platform speed based on the time shown when you jump into it. Wet-Dry World shifts water height with crystal switches and the height you use when entering the painting. Tiny-Huge Island flips scale so paths open in one form and close in the other. Course music sets tone, from the calm theme in Dire Dire Docks to the pulse of Lethal Lava Land. The mission design supports free choice since many Stars unlock in any order. That structure shaped later three-dimensional platformers and still draws players who chase faster completions.
