Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Learn About the Game Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet shift the series to a true open world in the Paldea region. You enroll at a local academy and set out on a long field study. You can tackle gyms, hunt towering Titan Pokémon, or take down Team Star bases in any order. The map stretches across busy towns, olive fields, rocky coasts, and snowy peaks. A partner legendary joins early and serves as a mount across land, water, and sky.

You pick a starter from Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly. Each one brings a distinct style in battle. Fights use the Terastal system. It turns a Pokémon into a crystal form and can switch its type. Timed Tera Raid battles bring teams together against boosted foes. You can roam the region with up to three friends and share catches and snapshots. Picnics let you wash partners, make sandwiches for useful buffs, and discover eggs. You also craft Technical Machines at Pokémon Centers. These items teach new moves and cost League Points and parts from wild Pokémon.

Each story path builds toward a shared finale in Area Zero at the Great Crater of Paldea. The tale explores the legendaries and introduces Paradox Pokémon. They appear as ancient forms in Scarlet and futuristic forms in Violet. Visual design uses bold color and simple textures. At launch, some players reported frame rate dips and visual glitches. Updates improved stability. Some issues still remain. After the credits, you can chase tougher raids, train new teams, and complete your collection.
